In reply to Lynda Mitton. I like the DownyPaws fountains because you can purchase replacement batteries. I keep an extra battery fully charged in addition to the battery in the fountain. So even in a power outage, the fountain will continue to work, and I have an extra charged battery, which means I can get thru even a prolonged outage. Having the extra battery also means I never have to plug in the fountain itself, making it truly wireless. The one negative for me,, it stops pumping when there is still about a 1/2" of water in the fountain. I think this is fairly common with pet fountains. I change the water everyday day anyway, but it means I use more of the dental additive I add to the water.

I wish there was information about washing by hand. Even nowadays not everyone has a dishwasher.

Been using the raindrop for probably in the range of 10 to 15 years. Worked great the entire time, when the pump died I found a replacement online for cheap that worked with a small modification. Only reason for switching is my new kitten likes playing in the water and manages to splash all of it onto the floor within about half an hour of filling it.

I’ve tried several of these over time but have been using the Petsafe Drinkwell Platinum for a few years now.

It’s easy to clean and holds quite a lot of water – always a plus.

Downside is if you don’t mind the “lint trap” between compartments, it will overflow once enough hair and gunk builds up.

Filters are cheap at around $18/year on Amazon, if you change them every month.

About a year ago after two years use, the pump did start to struggle – easily found a replacement online for $20 and it’s been going strong for about a year now.

Highly recommend and over time it has saved me money for sure, compared to the other fountains I’ve tried and tossed.

I have used the Catit Fountain and I have a lot of regret. I’ve gone through so many filters because the filters are so poorly made. I buy official Catit brand and I still have this issue.

The filter leaks so much charcoal. I wash my fountain every 3 days and every time I clean it, it’s a murky black color for water. I’m worried about some sort of issue from consuming the charcoal so much so I’m planning to switch. I would include that as part of the review or concern.

Keep in mind, I have tried so many different tactics. I soak the filter for 10 minutes twice. I run it under cold water. I run it under hot water.
